Vitamin Stree {Stop Motion Series}
In Jan 2019 I was asked by the wonderful folks at Vitamin Stree to come and direct the 'Bechdel Test' video that they create every year. Anisha Sharma who was the CD at Vitamin stree had been my editor at 'City Ninjas' a blog where I wrote a weekly column about breaking into Bollywood and the various people we meet and experiences we encounter as people behind the scenes. She felt I was apt to make a video about criticisms about Bollywood as well as retain the integrity of the voice of Vitamin Stree. I later went on to direct two more videos one about indian television and the other about colourism which were learning experiments in form and style to convey a story only though paper cut outs and stop motion.
My Quarantine Story
Having begun my career with some of the most prolific minds in the Non-fiction space, the early days of 2020 allowed me to retrace the path to my origins with this completely remote series. As the news bombarded our minds with fear and sadness, my editor Deeksha Bhushan and I decided to start asking people to share their pathos with us by recording 'piece to camera' videos of their stories. From the footage we received, we realised their stories would resonate with the country and decided to actively pay back through this 'time capsule' that recorded the history of the pandemic we were living.
